ermany Opportunity Card 2025: Points Calculator & Requirements

The door to Germany just opened wider. But can you walk through it?

For years, moving to Germany required a job offer in hand. That changed with the Chancenkarte (Opportunity Card). As of 2025, this is the most popular route for skilled Bangladeshis to enter Germany and look for work.

Unlike the old “Job Seeker Visa,” this card is points-based. Here is the simple breakdown of whether you qualify.

The Basics (You MUST have these)

Before counting points, you need two things:

  1. Education: A university degree or at least 2 years of vocational training (recognized in Bangladesh).

  2. Language: German (A1 level) OR English (B2 level).

  3. Money: A blocked account showing you can support yourself (approx. €1,091 per month as of 2025).

The Magic Number: 6 Points

If you meet the basics, you need to score 6 points to get the visa. Check your score:

  • 4 Points: If your foreign degree is partially recognized in Germany.

  • 3 Points: 5 years of work experience (in your field) within the last 7 years.

  • 2 Points: 2 years of work experience within the last 5 years.

  • 2 Points: Age is under 35.

  • 1 Point: Age is between 35 and 40.

  • 1 Point: German language skills at A2 level (B1 = 2 points, B2 = 3 points).

  • 1 Point: English language skills at C1 level.

  • 1 Point: If you have lived in Germany legally for 6 months in the past.

What Can You Do With It?

Once you arrive, you have one year to find a full-time job. The best part? You can work part-time (20 hours/week) immediately to cover your expenses while you search for your dream career.

The Verdict: If you are under 35, have a degree, decent English, and 2 years of experience, you likely already have the 6 points. It’s time to start the paperwork.
